The European Data Protection Day
28th January 2015
Celebrated on the 28th January 2015 by all member states of the Council of Europe, the European Data Protection Day marks the 34th anniversary of the adoption in Strasbourg of Convention 108 on the protection of individuals with regard to the automatic processing of personal data.
The main goal of this celebration is represented by the optimisation of the level of awareness at European level with regard to the importance of the rules on personal data protection and the observance of the rights of natural persons.
On this occasion, national independent data protection authorities from European countries organise specific events.
In honour of the European Data Protection Day, the National Supervisory Authority for Personal Data Processing will organise a Symposium, themed “The European Data Protection Day – the reform of the European legal framework on personal data protection”, event held at the Palace of the Parliament, hall “Avram Iancu”, on the 28th January 2015, starting with 11:00.
