On the 29th of September 2016 the International Conference Big Data hosted by the European Data Protection Supervisor and the European Consumer Association took place. The topics debated were related to ensuring the rights of natural personal under the conditions of technological development and the expansion of the phenomenon of Big data.

Within this prestigious event Mr. Giovanni Buttarelli, the European Data Protection Supervisor, highlighted the need for more rapid developments in the field of effective law enforcement together with the accelerated technological developments, taking into account that, at international level, many countries have adopted data protection laws.

The presence of the European Commissioner for Competition, Mrs. Margrethe Vestager, of representatives of the executive from Japan, of the national supervisory authorities and of the nongovernmental organizations from the field of consumer protection from Europe and U.S. points out the interest for the protection of privacy and personal data.

This reunion underlined the concern of the international, European and national bodies in ensuring a real protection of the rights of natural persons.
