Within the 27th-28th of September 2016 the Article 29 Working Party Plenary took place, dealing with the harmonized approach related to the new General Data Protection Regulation no. 2016/679, entered into force on the 25th of May 2016 and which will be applicable within all the Member States of the EU starting with the 25th of May 2018.

Taking into consideration the new competences of the European Data Protection Board established in Article 68 of the Regulation, the specific aspects referring to the effective activity of the Board, the preparation of its guidelines and recommendations were discussed.

In the same time, another topic of discussion referred to the methods of functioning of the mechanism for ensuring the consistency and cooperation between the national data protection authorities in order to ensure the efficiency of the competences established.
