Reunion on the processing of personal data in the medical sector

 

Reunion on the processing of personal data in the medical sector from the perspective of the General Data Protection Regulation

 

On the 28th of November 2016, a reunion of the companies interested in the processing of personal data in the medical and pharmaceutical sector, organized following the initiative of Ernst & Young took place.

During this event, the representative of the National Supervisory Authority for Personal Data Processing presented the main rules applicable in the medical sector, as well as the novelties brought by Regulation (UE) 2016/679 on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data, with effect starting with the 25th of May 2018.

At this reunion, the representative of the Pharmacists College in Romania underlined the particularities and the importance of using personal data in the pharmaceutical sector, as well as the current practical difficulties.

In the same time, the representative of Ernst & Young highlighted the internal measures necessary for each data controller in order to evaluate the risks and to ensure the confidentiality of the data kept.

The participants from the private sector showed their interest in the new rules established by the General Data Protection Regulation and the corresponding procedures for adapting to European requirements.

With this occasion, our institution expresses its full availability to participate to the future specific events of interest for the public or private sector, including insuring adequate information on the applicability of the new Regulation on data protection.
