Press release
Within the Article 29 Working Party Plenary (composed of the representatives of the national data protection authorities of EU Member States), held on 9th-10th of April 2014, the following documents were adopted:
- Opinion 04/2014 on surveillance of electronic communications for intelligence and national security purposes (WP 215), within the context of international debates on the consequences of such large-scale surveillance for citizens’ privacy;
- Opinion 05/2014 on anonymisation techniques (WP 216) which analyses the effectiveness and limits of existing anonymisation techniques for personal data;
- Opinion 06/2014 on the notion of legitimate interests of the data controller under Article 7 of Directive 95/46/EC (WP 217) which offers certain recommendations concerning the interpretation of the exception for personal data processing based on the legitimate interest of the data controller, as well as examples of good practice applicable in different fields of activity.
