PRESS RELEASE

The National Supervisory Authority for Personal Data Processing has used all of the legal measures at its disposal in order to receive adequate premises in order to carry out its activities at national level of supervision and control of personal processing carried out.

This special situation which might affect the legal functioning of the National Supervisory Authority for Personal Data Processing was also communicated to the Commissioner for justice, fundamental rights and citizenship and vice-president of the European Commission, Mrs. Viviane Reding, by letter no. A 439619 of the 19th April 2011 issued by the President of the Working Party Article 29 - which functions alongside the European Commission.

Following the last steps undertaken by the supervisory authority, the Recommendation of the Schengen evaluation mission on personal data protectiuon, of the requests of the Ministry of Administration and Interior and of the Romanian Senate, we would like to mention that R.A. - A.P.P.P.S. has offered a free space destined to become the premises of the National Supervisory Authority for Personal Data Processing, within the building located in Piata Presei Libere nr. 1, Cladirea Presei Libere, Corp D 1 etajul 1, sectorul 1.

Despite all this, in addition to the budgetary and human resources' deficit with which we are confronted, the issue of the lack of space necessary to ensure the legal functioning of the National Supervisory Authority for Personal Data Processing remains unsolved.
