The European Data Protection Day celebrates 38 years since the signing, on the 28th of January 1981, in Strasbourg, of Convention 108 on the protection of individuals with regard to automatic processing of personal data in Strasbourg in 1981, which marks the beginning of the regulation at European level of the rules for the processing of personal data.
We are now in a new stage in the development of the data protection field following the application on the 25th of May 2018 of Regulation 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data personal data and the free movement of such data and repealing Directive 95/46/EC.
In order to celebrate the European Data Protection Day, the National Supervisory Authority for Personal Data Processing will organize the Conference with the topic “Ensuring the observance of the General Data Protection Regulation and of the applicable national regulations” at the Parliament Palace on the 28th of January 2019.
The event aims to offer the opportunity for real debates on the application of the new requirements of the General Data Protection Regulation, of Law no. 129/2018 and of Law no. 190/2018 on certain measures implementing the General Data Protection Regulation, also in light of the Authority’s competences.
