During 26 - 27 March 2009, a seminar in the data protection field, organised by National Inspectorate for People's Records (NIPR), with the attendance of representatives for person's records' structures and NIPR, took place in Brasov.
The meeting's main objective was represented by analysis of the general rules regarding personal data processing in Schengen area.
Following the organizers' invitation, the representatives of the National Supervisory Authority for Personal Data Processing sustained the presentation concerning: "Theoretical and practical aspects regarding personal data communication".
The conditions in which the data are transmitted to other public authorities have been largely analysed, regarding the existing consent of the data subject, regulated by Law no. 677/2001.
It was especially emphasized the necessity to realize a full information of the persons by the displaying the information on the panels, on the web pages, and also the importance of respecting the right of access, intervention and opposition of each and every person.
In the context in which most of the community public services for person's records - in their capacity of personal data controllers - have notified the National Supervisory Authority for Personal Data Processing, it was brought to the attention of the attendances the change in the form used by controllers, following the publication of Decision no. 95/2008.
The personal data transfer to third countries, in the person's records domain, is possible to be carried out through NIRP.
One conclusions of the reunion was to update the Guide elaborated by NIRP with the national supervisory authority's opinion.
The presentation received great interest and was considered to be a catalyst of the debate for actual situations that appeared at the public service for person's records.
